Our Story
The land found us.
We searched for a place that felt right, but nothing matched the vision we carried. Then, in a moment that felt almost otherworldly in its timing, a local pastor reached out. He didn’t know we were looking for land. He didn’t know about the dream forming in our hearts. He simply asked if we might be interested in purchasing his 70-acre property. A quiet farmstead in Moorhead, MN, tucked along the Red River, complete with woods, trails, meadows, and a barn waiting to be filled with life again.
When we stepped onto the property, there was no question.
This was the place.
Peace settled over us.

Renewed Roots had found its home: Red River Acres.
Where it all began.
Renewed Roots began with a stirring… a gentle inner nudge that kept returning, soft but certain. After welcoming our youngest daughter, our family felt pulled toward a slower rhythm, closer to nature, where childhood could unfold freely and wholeheartedly.
We imagined a place where children learned through creation, connection, story, and wonder… a place where peace came easily and joy returned to the center of learning.
We didn’t know exactly where this vision would lead, only that something bigger than us was moving, and we were meant to follow that feeling.

Again and again, doors opened at the exact moment we needed clarity. Conversations aligned. Opportunities appeared. And then, like a final confirmation from above, eagles began circling the sky during moments when we prayed, dreamed, or asked for direction.
We came to recognize these moments for what they were… Godwinks.

A family mission takes shape.
Our children became the heartbeat of this dream, and soon, the dream expanded to include other families longing for a healthier, more connected way of learning. We envisioned a place where

Renewed Roots grew from that mission. We create the kind of healthy and joyful interactions that allow children to grow in mind, body, heart, and spirit so they feel grounded, capable, and wonderfully alive.

Our Mission
To nurture wonder, stewardship, and faith in children through nature based learning experiences.
We design learning that cultivates courage, resilience, compassion, and gratitude. Learning unfolds within the rhythms of the natural world and honors both the hearts and minds of children, allowing them to grow rooted and built up, strengthened in faith, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6–7.
Our Beliefs
Because nature builds problem solvers, courageous risk takers, and compassionate caretakers of the world, we believe children thrive when learning is meaningful, relational, hands on, and deeply connected to the land.
Children deserve more than busy schedules and indoor days.
They deserve space to imagine, explore, climb, discover, question, and grow in ways only nature can provide.
