Parents remain the primary homeschool educators; supporting core curriculum, setting academic goals, and completing required standardized testing. Renewed Roots supports that vision by providing structured learning time, academic reinforcement, and daily enrichment.

A licensed teacher reviews the monthly enrichment curriculum to ensure alignment with Minnesota educational expectations for the enrichment subjects shown below. Parents retain full direction in implementation of the core curriculum and oversight of their child's formal education; we provide the support system that makes it sustainable.

We provide:

  • Guided academic time

  • Curriculum support

  • Nature-based enrichment across subjects

  • Monthly enrichment curriculum oversight by a licensed teacher

  • Social, emotional, and spiritual community

Parents provide:

  • State-required paperwork & testing

  • Weekly Curriculum work with the student (suggested 4 hours per day or 1 hour/ day on Forest school days.)

  • Oversight of academic progression

Together, we create a meaningful, well-rounded homeschool lifestyle.

Core Curriculum

Supporting a Consistent Academic Foundation

Core Subjects & Academic Responsibility

At Renewed Roots, parents remain the primary homeschool educators and retain full responsibility for their child’s core academic instruction. Our role is to support, reinforce, and enrich that learning within a nature-based environment, not to replace parent-directed homeschooling.

We recommend that families maintain a homeschool structure of approximately four hours per day across required subject areas on non-forest days, consistent with regional homeschool guidance used as our planning framework. For every day a child attends Renewed Roots, families also commit to completing an additional hour of core academic work at home, ensuring continuity, depth, and consistency in learning.

While children are on campus, our team supports academic growth through structured learning blocks, small-group instruction, and integrated enrichment experiences that complement each child’s homeschool curriculum.

Unified Curriculum Resources

While parents may choose any curriculum that fits their family’s needs, we strongly encourage families enrolled in our Homeschool Enrichment Program to use a unified set of recommended curriculum resources.

Using shared curriculum tools allows:

  • Our staff to guide learning more effectively during academic blocks

  • Children to receive consistent instruction and support across groups

  • The school day to maintain a calm, predictable rhythm for all students

Families may opt to use alternative curricula if needed; however, the programs we recommend are the ones our staff is trained to support most fully.

WHY WE RECOMMEND A SHARED CURRICULUM

Using a consistent curriculum set helps us:

  • Provide effective small-group academic support

  • Keep children on track during their independent work periods

  • Reduce frustration or confusion caused by multiple programs

  • Offer meaningful accountability

  • Ensure a smooth, peaceful academic rhythm

  • Uphold the quality and integrity of the enrichment experience

Families still maintain full control over homeschool goals and required state testing, while Renewed Roots supports the daily execution of academic learning.

HOW CORE CURRICULUM WORKS AT RENEWED ROOTS

During each academic block, children:

  • Bring their curriculum each day

  • Work through daily assignments

  • Receive gentle guidance and encouragement

  • Have access to small-group support

  • Learn within a calm, structured environment

A licensed Minnesota teacher reviews our monthly enrichment curriculum, not each child’s personal academic progress; fulfilling the state requirement for tutorial centers.
